I'm in a spectacular mood
Life in Kalamazoo is great. Living on my own is something I really enjoy. I also have a great roommate in Corey. I love that dude. Living with him was a great choice.
I also really enjoy my job. I’ve become pretty good friends with a couple other photographers, and taking pictures of little kids is such a neat thing. Making people smile for a living definitely makes you feel good. Those kids will probably never remember the lanky photographer that took their picture, but it’s cool to think that I made their day a little more entertaining. Also, saying “I’m going to have you step on the red feet for me,” is a phrase that I have probably said thousands of times and one that I never thought I would ever say once. I chuckle when I think about that.
I’ve also been swing dancing for about three weeks now. Every tuesday I meet up with Maddi and we swing dance in Rosa Parks Circle in downtown grand rapids. It’s something that I thought I would never enjoy doing. Doing it with someone you really enjoy being around helps with that, but the dancing aspect is a ton of fun as well. and challenging. Im not very graceful at all, so I kind of look like a gumpy idiot with a stupid look on my face. Nevertheless, I’m having a blast.
I’m going to see Joe Hertler and the Rainbow Seekers tonight at the strutt. I’m real excited for it. I haven’t seen those guys since march. They are a talented batch of musicians. Being in a traveling band is the coolest. I get to meet so many fantastic people. It’s seriously the best. The October shows we have booked are probably the best string of shows I have ever been a part of. I couldn’t be more excited. I strongly suggest trying to make it to one of them. You won’t regret it.
I’m trying to do the best I can to be useful, responsible and compassionate. To stand for something. To matter. To make a difference that I lived at all. I think that’s what’s it’s truly all about.
