we'll beat back the pain we've found you know I mean to tell you all the things I've been thinking deep inside, my friend

I don’t really know what you’re asking, but I appreciate the Dave Matthews lyrics. The answer I am giving is yes. I don’t know if that makes sense, but that’s my answer.

this summer

will seriously be insane. I plan to get a bike, and to ride it everywhere with my closest friends. I also plan to take advantage of the absolutely stunning beach that I live ten minutes away from. I will also be touring with Audrey, which basically explains itself. This summer will be the greatest one to date, and I feel so fortunate to be able to experience all of the great memories I will create with the people involved in my life. I really don’t feel like I deserve it. Its mind blowing.

frustration

It’s getting to me. More than i should let it. That in itself is causing more frustration. I really need to just play a show.

“Whatcha got, whatcha got in your hand?”
the father said to his son.

“I got the whole world here, daddy,
between my fingers and my thumb”

“will you take care of it please?
it’s the only one” said the man

“it’d take me a lifetime, old man,
to undo whatcha done.” the boy replied.

“oh c’mon now, boy, think what would Jesus do?”

“he’d shake his head like an angry mother” spoke the boy, ” and say ‘I did what I could do.’”

Never underestimate the power of your actions. One small gesture can change a person’s life.

Tomorrow is a mystery. Today is a gift. Be thankful, good people.

Imagine what badass players we would be by now if we had went into some drum corps. Ramming beats would kind of be the life. Flams?

yeah no doubt. I was watching tons of snare videos last night. I miss it terribly, but i mainly just miss the people. That’s what’s most important. When i think about marching band, the first thing I think about are all of the great memories with you and everyone else. I hardly even remember the music, which is what we worked on most. Like If that flams story happened to someone in jenisons band, I wouldn’t care about it at all. It was the fact that it was you that makes it so awesome. I guess it was never about the music or chops, was it?

Engage.Evolve.Enjoy

We are lazy. Every last one of us. Some more than others, but we humans really need to start to engage ourselves in the best way/ways possible. I believe that in being this lazy, we sell ourselves short on all of the experiences life can truly offer. So why are we this lazy? Our society strives towards simplicity. We want things to be as easy as possible. I mean, I can see where this makes sense when applied to certain platforms, i.e. the iphone, but if we apply it in all walks of life, we will miss out on a lot. We talked about this a little in my music theory class, and it just got me really thinking.

For instance, when we drive to work/school/whatever, we usually take the route that is the quickest. It is the safest route. We know exactly where we are going and how long it will take to get there. What do you think would happen if we took a route that we have never taken before? We would see new things. Things that cause us to think about things in a certain way or reinforce things that we already think a certain way about (confusing sentence for the win). The driving example is analogous to all that we do in life. It takes the excitement out of things if you just repeatedly do them the same way. We become mindless zombies. If we engage and let these thoughts/ideas really mold our brain, that’s when we can truly evolve as human beings and then eventually evolve as a society.

This laziness also makes us take SO much for granted. We live on a planet filled with virtually endless amounts of beauty, wonder, and excitement. We need to take the time to slow down and truly enjoy what is around us. One can find stories every day about parents neglecting their children. Seriously!? Stories like that just make me so frustrated. I don’t understand how parents can do that to their child. But you see, it happens all the time. People just don’t care about other people like they should (I think, anyway). What a person has to say on a second to second basis is way more important than the superbowl, concert, or any other material thing.

I could go on and on, but to sum all of this up, we all need to make the most out of our time here on earth. Engage, evovle, and enjoy. Three simple words that mean so much. If you made to the end of this little rant, I hope that it starts to get the gears in your mind turning. Don’t forget that you have a voice. Get out there and use it for something worthwhile.

If you could change one thing about your life, what would it be?

I’ll just keep this answer super simplistic. My band didn’t make a bled fest slot, and I really wanted to play bled fest. So the thing I would change at this point in time would be to have a slot on bled fest. I just realized how many times i said ‘bled fest.’ Thanks for the question, Anonymous, if that is your real name. (I doubt it)

seven things you've thought about today?

1. How thankful I am that my family and are I are alive alive and well.

2. How weird it is that when I drive to work or school, it has become so mechanical that I vaguely even remember the drive itself. This is kind of a weird thing to explain, I hope you understand it.

3. How I constantly take my heath for granted. There is a man at plumbs who is physically disabled, and he has to use an electric wheel chair to get around. He comes in about twice a week, and I gladly pick out his items for him, and I have to punch in his pin number for his food stamp card. He makes the most of his life, though, and I really want to have that mindset.

4. I don’t like Taylor Swift at all

5. If the Apple Jacks in your Tumblr picture were as delicious as I hoped they’d be.

6. I’m thinking that I will do my paper in the morning before my history class. I thoroughly enjoy the environment in the mcc library.

7. How great it will be to talk to you tonight.
